It's getting pretty close to time for Shawn and his brigade to head out for Iraq. I guess part of them have already headed out. I know that Shawn is leaving on the 17th so it's less than a week away. Donna has already scheduled that day off as she figures that she will be out of it that day.
We talked with Shawn tonight, he is working the "CQ" desk. From what he says, everything is packed up and they are off this weekend. He said that he figured that everyone would be partying as much as possible this weekend. I can't blame them for that, it will be the last time for a pretty long time for those boys and girls.
To that end, I am going to turn this into a journal of our time with a soldier in Iraq. I know as much as this is going to be a test of stress and nerves for us, it will be so much tougher on Shawn and the group he is with over there.
